History[]

Jonah is a young camper from camp Towaki. four other boys, Alex Eddy, Steve and Alex got permission from camp director Mr. Ostrowski to go on an overnight camping trip deep in the woods. Since he was mature for age and very smart, he got permission to go as well. He read a manual on how to survive in the bush, and he kept on studying it all summer long. He is smart, determined, ambitious and resourceful.

Camp counsellor Lonnie, was going to be leading them on their hiking trip. Lonnie was either a trained army drill sergeant or a camp counsellor taking the job too seriously. Lonnie at first thought he was too young and wouldn't be able to keep up. But he told him he had permission to go. Then he showed him that he knew how to do everything from his manual. Lonnie was furious, because he wanted to teach him everything. Instead relying on a manual. So Lonnie reluctantly took him along.

During the beginning of the hike, the other boys listened to Lonnie got really mad ticked off. Since he was constantly correcting and contradicting him. So Alex quietly asked him to not make it anymore harder for them. Then when setting up camp Lonnie got frustrated trying to open a food can. So he told him campers need to pack carefully. So he lent him a can opener. Then Lonnie got fed up with he upstaging him. So Lonnie madly pushed him. Then ended up knocking Lonnie's knapsack down a small hill.

When Alex and Lonnie realized that he was taking a long time retrieving it, they went down to check on him. Alex and Lonnie found out that he had discovered a small aboriginal burial tomb. He also told them that before they showed up that he lifted a statue off of a plinth. Then he mistakenly released an evil Shaman. The Shaman warned him that now he was free. Also that the Shaman would have flesh eating monsters roam around the forest. So the Shaman warned them to leave the woods as soon as possible.

Lonnie and the others didn't believe him. They all just thought that since he was younger, he was just seeing things. And that he was just spooked by the woods and being away from civilization. When his division went over to the ranger station to check in with the Forest Ranger. At first the place seemed deserted. So he got really tense and anxious worrying that the Manaha captured the Forest Ranger. Then he backed into someone thinking it was a Manaha and screamed. It turned out it was just the Forest Ranger. He only stepped away for a few minutes. Then the Forest Ranger and the others all laughed at him.

That evening, Lonnie asked him to get some firewood. But he nervous about entering the woods. Then Eddy teased him, telling him the Boogieman won't eat him. Since he was too small. Then all the boys laughed. So to prove himself, he went to get some. But Lonnie was mad that he did not bring back very much. So Lonnie won't in to get more.

Then when he and the others all heard Lonnie scream in the woods, they went over to check on him. Then he and the others all saw huge footprints. The other boys now realized that he really was telling the truth. When heading over to the Ranger station, he and the others found the place all messed up and trashed. So now they realized the Manaha captured the ranger as well.

Against his advice, the others all tried heading back to camp for help in separate directions. So using his navigation skills he showed the right routes to go. Until he and the others found out that Eddy had gotten captured too, by hearing him scream.

Then he, Alex, Steve and Carl found Eddy, Lonnie and the Forest Ranger. They were all bound and gagged in a bark like material and suspended in the air. It seemed that the Shaman was preparing to light bonfires beneath them. Then offer them in a sacrificial ritual.

He now finally realized that Manaha were linked to beliefs. So they were only visible to those who believed in them. So now being more courageous and brave than ever, he faced the Shaman and denied that the Manaha were real. So they disappeared. Then he tricked the Shaman into believing the Manaha had turned against him. It was done by having, Alex, Steve and Carl dress like Manaha in dark ponchos. Then they made similar sounds with sticks while rustling the trees and bushes. The Shaman fell for it and was fearfully lead back into the burial cave. He told the Shaman he was put here for a good reason. So now he is going back. Then he returned the statue back to the plinth. This once again sealed the Shaman away.

Afterwards, he finally earned the entire division's respect. So he proudly lead the others all on a five mile hike back to camp. While Lonnie would be at the end carrying all of the bags.
