Intro[]
Story[]
Ending[]
- Richard Dumont reprises his role as Sardo from the original series in a flashback. Ironically, the closing credits bill the character as Mister Sardo, despite Dumont reciting his famous "no Mister, accent on the do" line from his original appearances in this episode.
- The Midnight Society using time travel to thwart June Murphy's death and returning to the present to see her alive and well is similar to Candy Warren and Emily Jerome's deaths being overwritten by the endings of "The Tale of Locker 22" and "The Tale of the Night Nurse."
- Margot Picalarro reappears wearing her Ghastly Grinner shirt from "The Tale of the Danse Macabre". She also defends "the original" Ghastly Grinner to Jai, as opposed to the reboot The Return of the Ghastly Grinner. This is also the second time that title is mentioned in the BenDavid Grabinski run of Are You Afraid of the Dark? after the previous season's finale ended just as Gavin began telling "The Return of the Ghastly Grinner".
- The discussion about the Ghastly Grinner reboot is a meta joke about this series being a reboot.
- This is the only episode of the season when the Midnight Society gathers around a campfire in the woods, throwing dust in the flames to begin a tale. Prior to this they gather in a marina but now settle in the woods as they are no longer haunted.
- Connor's speech "We are the Midnight Society. Separately we're very different. We like different things, we have our own strengths, but one thing draws us together: the dark" is very similar to Gary's opening lines from the original series premiere "The Tale of the Phantom Cab".
